How do guests find their way to restaurants, when do they prefer to dine out, and how often do they return? Our new report Guest Behavior 2025 provides data-driven answers from over 1,200 establishments in Switzerland.
Key findings:
- Online is booming, phone remains essential: Over half of all reservations are made online – yet phone bookings still bring in the most guests.
- Walk-ins are small, phone bookings are large: Spontaneous guests usually arrive in pairs, while large groups almost always book by phone.
- Short-term planning dominates: More than a third of guests only book on the day of their visit.
- Returning guests are valuable: Around 36% of all restaurant visits come from regulars. Clear proof of how important guest retention is.
- Feedback remains ignored: Guests rate restaurants with an average of 4.8 stars, yet only 5.7% of reviews receive a response.
