When an experience becomes a strategy

What began as a simple solution for table reservations is now firmly embedded in the daily operations of Familie Wiesner Gastronomie AG. Both technically and strategically, foratable has evolved alongside the business. It supports the family-run company in providing more personalized guest service and streamlining processes to enhance the guest experience.

Vision & Strategy

What does FWG want to offer its guests today and in the future?

At FWG, the guest experience is at the heart of everything we do. We want to delight people with culinary variety, joy, and hospitality, no matter which of our locations they are visiting. It’s not "just" about the food; it’s about an idea: every guest should feel welcome and enjoy their own personal moment of indulgence. In the future, we want to make these experiences even more personalized. We aim to achieve this primarily through better connectivity, smart tools, and data that help us truly understand our guests.

What role does your digital strategy play in realizing this vision?

For us, digitalization is not an end in itself, but a modern tool. We use digital solutions to make life easier for our guests and our teams, whether it's for reservations, communication, or daily restaurant operations. In short: our digital strategy is designed to simplify processes, strengthen our dialogue with guests, and show us where we can specifically improve.

What specific requirements do you have for a reservation system provider like foratable to successfully implement your digital strategy?

For us, three things matter most: reliability, ease of use, and flexibility. We need a digital partner by our side who understands that our guests are our top priority. The software must integrate seamlessly into our existing systems. Our business is very diverse—you could say it ranges from sushi to bibimbap (laughs). Beyond stable day-to-day software, we also value fast support, transparency, and the continuous development of the tool.

Development of the partnership

How has the collaboration with foratable developed since the launch in 2017?

What began as a standard client relationship has evolved over the years into a trusted partnership. What started as a pragmatic solution for reservations now significantly shapes our digital connection with our guests. We value the fact that foratable takes our feedback seriously and continues to evolve technically, allowing us to focus on our day-to-day business.

What have been the milestones in this partnership?

A major step was the group-wide rollout across all our locations and the subsequent integration with other systems, such as our CRM. Later, we added features that allowed us to manage table occupancy more intelligently and better analyze guest preferences. A real value-add for our teams.

What new needs have emerged in recent years?

Today's guests expect maximum flexibility: spontaneous bookings, easy changes, and reminders. At the same time, our establishments need more oversight and efficiency. For our restaurants, this means greater clarity with less effort. Automated processes, clear analytics, and tight integration between reservation and marketing tools have therefore become indispensable to us.

How easy is the tool for teams to use on a daily basis?

Teams really value the simplicity. foratable is designed to be intuitive, allowing even new staff members to get up to speed quickly. In such a fast-paced environment, that is a major advantage.

Are there any specific workflows or best practices that have become standard?

Yes, many establishments have developed set routines, such as analyzing reservations after peak service hours or providing targeted service to specific guest profiles. The close collaboration between the front-of-house and kitchen teams, facilitated by the live overview, also ensures smoother operations.

Usage at group level

Who within the organization works with foratable today?

In addition to our operations teams, the tool is used by management, marketing, IT, and the executive board—each with a different focus. To round it all off, we have even integrated key booking data into our central analytics tool (Power BI).

What expectations do these different departments have for the tool?

Management wants an overview and transparency, marketing uses guest data for more targeted communication, and IT focuses on interfaces and data security.

In our operations, the priority is a smooth workflow: everything together creates a strong overall picture.

How does foratable fit into your existing system landscape?

foratable is now firmly integrated into our digital infrastructure, with interfaces to our e-commerce system, CRM, and reporting platforms. Only by connecting these systems can we create a seamless experience for our guests and streamlined processes for ourselves.

Results & Impact

What quantitative results have you achieved since the implementation?

We have been able to specifically optimize capacity in many of our locations and significantly reduce no-shows. At the same time, we have gained valuable insights into our guests' booking behavior through structured data.

What qualitative benefits does the tool provide for you?

The tool takes the pressure off our teams, provides clarity, and improves communication. For our guests, this means shorter wait times, more convenience, and a consistently professional experience. At the group level, it also strengthens our ability to make data-driven decisions and identify trends early on.

Are there any examples of how foratable has helped make a new concept or restaurant successful faster?

Yes, foratable has been a huge help, especially with new concepts like "PokeNation" and "The Butcher." By getting them involved from day one, we were able to manage reservations professionally and leverage valuable guest data right from the start.

It will be really exciting in the future when we link data, CRM, and personal communication even more closely to provide our guests with an even more surprising and personalized experience.

What upcoming projects are you planning with Lunchgate?

We want to work together on how we can better integrate the use of guest data into our marketing and customer loyalty efforts. Our top priority is ensuring that our guests receive genuine added value.

What does this partnership mean to you—is it purely a tool, or a strategic companion on your journey?

Clearly as a strategic partner. What we value about Lunchgate is that they understand our world and think along with us—not just technically, but also in terms of content. That is what makes this partnership valuable and long-lasting.
